Fill the Truck

We are entering our 14th year supporting the Plainville Food Pantry with our November “Fill the Truck” Event. In 2018 we collected, with the town’s generosity over 13,000 lbs. of food, cash donations and turkey donations to aid the Holiday season for our Food Pantry.

Every October, we gather and create no-sew blankets for the Project Linus. In addition to the donations we make to this organization, we also supply the Plainville Police and the Plainville Food Pantry with these blanket blessings.

We have a group of cutters, seamstresses, and packagers, who gather and provide a valuable resource to many young girls who prepare kits for girls. WHY? Celeste, founder of Days for Girls, learned that girls were sitting on cardboard for several days each month, often going without food unless someone would bring it to them. This set-in motion her first intervention – disposable pads. But Celeste and her team quickly discovered a major problem – without any place to dispose of the pads, this was neither a viable nor a sustainable solution. It was time for Plan B: a washable, long-lasting pad.

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry…

“Shawls…made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles” written in 1998 by Janet Severi Bristow.
